00568: Request for Markup Repository
Description: Request for Markup Repository
I was working on a module where I needed to define a new markup. But I had a vague feeling that the markup I was planning to define was used by some cookbook.
Is it possible to have a central repository for markups used by pmwiki and all cookbooks published on pmwiki.org or elsewhere?
These markups need to be registered with pmwiki.org so that new cookbook authors could refer to them when defining a new one. We could come up with some format/fields needed to fill during registration request.
The repository could be searchable, or one big page. For instance for a markup ~~~~ one could enter the character ~ and would get a list of all markups defined which uses this symbol. The character could also be a set of words.
While registering a markup Patrick could see if requested markup is not something that might or would be used in core. This might be because of planned or other feature Pm has for pmwiki in his priority list. Once a markup is registered the requester should also publish his/her cookbook within some time span. All cookbook recipe using some unregistered markups would carry a small conspicous note on the recipe page.
Some benefits of this system:
1. At a glance to learn markups for both recipe writers and pmwiki users.
2. Improved Documentation.
