Description: There should be a way to prevent someone else from usign an string for an author name that corresponds to some other author. That is, preventing identity theft.

That is after all a softned version of the AuthUser thinguie... I just don't want that someone try to pass as me, so that AllRecentChanges has some utility against wiki spamming, but I want everything else to remain the same...

Personally, I think it could work that way: if there exists a Profile/UserID page then only allow using that UserID to someone that has write access to the profile page (be it administrator or the user or whatever...)

I think this would be a very desirable feature as I'm having a bit of a problem with that even in my intranet environment where no hostile intent is involved, only misconcpetions about how the author field is supposed to be used. (Maybe there's a way to achieve that even now, but if there is, I'm afraid I'm not aware of it.) --Henning August 16, 2010, at 09:31 AM
