Wikipedia switched to a Lucene-based search engine in 2005. Prior to that they used MySQL for search. There might have been a brief period where they used Google results, but I don't remember it. Otterfan >> Searches - using Google et. al. This may be fine for PUBLIC Wiki's but it is certainly NOT OK for private ones. PmWiki should always keep a local search capability.
