It could be done via:

   - a checkbox in the edit page
   - a browser cookie that is enabled/disabled by a link for the
     current session (e.g., ?notify=off and ?notify=on)
   - disabling notifications for edits by a given author name
   - other methods

What do you think your preference would be...?
