Description: Many people have asked for an easier mechanism for uploading file and attachments to a page while in the edit page form. While browser limitations certainly prevent us from doing things like "drag and drop", it ought to be possible to provide a separate small window with an upload form, along with an ability to quickly paste the Attach:filename.ext into the current text.

Comments and suggestions greatly appreciated. --Pm

When you are in the edit form and want to make a link for a file, Dokuwiki (http://wiki.splitbrain.org/wiki:DokuWiki) open a new window to upload and/or choose a file in the list. Then when you click (when the file is uploaded), the syntax and the name of the file are copied in the edit form. It should be possible to have the same behavior in PmWiki. I like that idea, jpg! It guarantees consistency of the upload name and the markup name while allowing people to upload stuff in an "intuitively correct" sequence. I know from coaching people over the phone that they often want to upload right when they specify the file name, and your suggestion fits that requirement perfectly! (I have voted "4" on the priority here.) --Henning September 21, 2006, at 11:06 AM
